Mat Ellis founded Cloudability in April 2011 and is its CEO. Prior to Cloudability, Mat held executive positions with four startups, and key technology roles at Frito-Lay, Pepsi Cola and Goldman Sachs. He currently sits on the boards of the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network and the Technology Association of Oregon. Originally from the UK and now residing in Portland, Mat is well known as a mentor and advisor to startups across the US.
J.R. has a passion for translating customer needs within the organization. He is focused on ensuring that Cloudability’s customers succeed by promoting customer engagement, product education and advocacy. Prior to Cloudability, J.R. built several startups and experienced firsthand the challenges of managing cloud costs. The first decade of his career was as web consultant helping businesses like Sothebys, Charles Schwab, and the Hawaii Tourism Authority define a customer-centric technology strategy for their web platforms. Originally from Hawaii, J.R. is a father of twin boys and mentors with startup accelerators such as Techstars.
Erik has been leading and growing engineering and technology teams for over ten years. Prior to Cloudability, he served as CTO and Co-Founder of RipFog, Inc, where he oversaw the development of its analytics and benchmarking software. Previously, Erik directed engineering teams at Urban Airship and Jive Software. He has served as an Advisor to several Portland tech companies and is passionate about growing the Portland startup ecosystem. Erik holds a BA from Dartmouth College.
Caroline has a strong passion for working with and supporting fast growing companies through her expertise and leadership in finance and accounting operations. Prior to joining Cloudability, Caroline was VP of Finance at Axiom EPM, another Portland based enterprise SaaS company that focused on performance management tools. And before that, she served in senior roles at Nike and Price Waterhouse Coopers. She’s an active CPA in the State of Oregon and holds a Masters in Accounting from the University of Oregon, Charles H. Lundquist College of Business.
Mindee is driven to develop and deliver innovative programs and services to help organizations create value and grow their biggest asset: their employees. She joined Cloudability as People Director in 2016 from Point B, Inc., where she served as HR Director. Mindee is a seasoned human resources leader with a strong background in tech, including previous stints at companies such as Onyx Software and F5 Networks. Her global experience spans the range of talent acquisition, total rewards, employee relations and training and development. Mindee holds a BA from Western Washington University.
Matthew leads our public cloud strategy including our public cloud and software partnerships globally. He was an early sales leader Amazon Web Services, joining AWS in 2010. Matthew left AWS to start his own company, Options I/O Cloud Marketplace, which was later acquired in a series of acquisitions most recently when Datapipe was acquired by Rackspace. Matthew has held senior sales, alliances and engineering leadership roles at Datapipe, Sprint, Level 3, DualSpark and NetMotion Software and loves the challenge of building businesses from the ground up. Matthew has a BS in Applied Math and Statistics from Colorado State University.
Prior to joining Cloudability, Jay served in leadership roles at RealNetworks and Isilon Systems, where he was instrumental in capturing valuable market share in the highly competitive streaming media and scale-out NAS markets. In 2011, Jay joined Chef as an early member of the executive team, assisting in building out the emerging open source business into a globally recognizable brand and leader in the DevOps market. After more than five years at Chef, Jay joined Amazon Web Services, where he led several marketing operations, including product marketing, enterprise marketing, launch marketing and customer engagement.
David Winter has developed new financial-oriented service offerings to help enterprise customers reach their financial goals related to public cloud adoption, as well as programs designed to drive revenue for the hyper-scale cloud providers (AWS, Google, MS). Prior to Cloudability, David Winter led Global Business Development focused on Migrations at AWS. He holds both a technical and business background related to AWS adoption as he built and operated a SaaS platform for an Austin, TX startup, Zenoss, for two years prior to joining AWS. Before entering a career centered around AWS, David was VP of Managed Services for Presidio, a leading Cisco value-added reseller. For 7 years at Presidio David built and operated a managed services offering that carried over $20M in annual recurring revenue.
Adam has a history of building potent direct sales operations that produce results. His success is driven by his ability to build genuine connections with people at all levels, motivating sales teams to achieve consistently higher levels of success while creating relationships of trust and confidence with clients. Prior to Cloudability, Adam successfully grew a sales team at Act-On Software. While with Autodesk, he was honored to participate in the company’s global Leadership Development Program. Prior to entering the software industry Adam grew his own facility service and equipment leasing business in Northern California, eventually servicing 1,000 customer locations. He holds a BA in International Relations from the University of California at Davis.
Nigel is a twenty year veteran of software sales, with a successful track record of building and leading teams at fast growth stages in EMEA. He has previously worked at market leading software companies including RSA Security (acquired by EMC), WebTrends, Responsys (acquired by Oracle) and ExactTarget (acquired by Salesforce). Prior to joining Cloudability, Nigel formed and grew the EMEA team of Urban Airship, a market-leading digital channels engagement solution. During his 6 years at Urban Airship the EMEA customer base grew from 5 to over 300 and the team from 2 to 30. Nigel lives with his wife Vicky and two sons in Hampshire, west of London. In his spare time Nigel loves classic cars and traveling in his treasured 1974 VW Camper.
Andy Boyd joins Cloudability from Amazon, where he lead the global custom deal structuring team for AWS Strategic Customer Engagements. He holds degrees in International Business and Russian Languages, as well as an MBA from the University of Washington. For 15 years prior to joining AWS he was at Microsoft, managing both the MSDN Subscription business and Azure worldwide licensing. Leading many of AWS' largest customer pricing negotiations and with 10 years working with Microsoft and AWS Cloud services, Andy has a broad base of experience and insight across the top Cloud providers.
Jason was a founder of Slicehost, an early cloud computing hosting company. In 2008 Slicehost was acquired by Rackspace and became the core for the initial Cloud Servers product. Jason continued on at Rackspace until 2010 as VP of software development for Rackspace Cloud, managing the cloud engineering teams. He is a Managing Director at Techstars. Jason has a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology at Saint Louis University.
Chris is a partner at Foundry Group and is considered a pioneer in data and platform strategy development. He has a passion for helping entrepreneurs scale their businesses while maintaining the passion that sparked them to start businesses in the first place. Prior to Foundry Group, Chris was GM & VP of Twitter's Data & Enterprise business, CEO of Gnip and held several executive roles at Aquent, such as COO, where he managed the daily operations of 70 teams in 17 countries. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University.
