Mat Ellis

Founder & CEO

Mat Ellis founded Cloudability in April 2011 and is its CEO. Prior to Cloudability, Mat held executive positions with four startups, and key technology roles at Frito-Lay, Pepsi Cola and Goldman Sachs. He currently sits on the boards of Help Autism Now Society and the Technology Association of Oregon. Originally from the UK and now residing in Portland, Mat is well known as a mentor and advisor to startups across the US.

J.R. Storment

Co-Founder & Chief Customer Officer

J.R. has a passion for translating customer needs within the organization. He is focused on ensuring that Cloudability’s customers succeed by promoting customer engagement, product education and advocacy. Prior to Cloudability, J.R. built several startups and experienced firsthand the challenges of managing cloud costs. The first decade of his career was as web consultant helping businesses like Sothebys, Charles Schwab, and the Hawaii Tourism Authority define a customer-centric technology strategy for their web platforms. Originally from Hawaii, J.R. is a father of twin boys and mentors with startup accelerators such as Techstars.

Peter Adams

COO

Peter was an early adviser to Cloudability and joined as COO in 2012. He oversees sales, account management, and alliances. Prior to Cloudability, he was president of Matchpoint.com, which was acquired by Company.com. He has held CTO or CPO roles at multiple ventures including Search pioneer Looksmart (NASDAQ: LOOK) and digital ad agency Poppe Tyson, which merged with Modem Media (NASDAQ: MMPT), and spun-out DoubleClick (which went public and sold to Google). He founded Primary Knowledge, one of the first SaaS based web analytics services, which was acquired by Looksmart. Peter is an active advisor to other startups and serves on the Standards committee of the Digital Analytics Association (DAA). He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Trinity College, in Hartford Connecticut.

Erik Onnen

VP, Engineering

Erik has been leading and growing engineering and technology teams for over ten years. Prior to Cloudability, he served as CTO and Co-Founder of RipFog, Inc, where he oversaw the development of its analytics and benchmarking software. Previously, Erik directed engineering teams at Urban Airship and Jive Software. He has served as an Advisor to several Portland tech companies and is passionate about growing the Portland startup ecosystem. Erik holds a BA from Dartmouth College.

Bill Lynch

VP, Product

Prior to his work with Cloudability, Bill was a Co-founder, Board Member and VP of Product Management at Jive Software, a communication and collaboration solution for businesses that raised $161.3 million from investors during its 2011 IPO.

During his tenure with Jive, Bill played an integral role in building the product roadmap, managing the development and product teams, and acting as a product evangelist both internally and externally. He still plays an active advisory role for new initiatives at Jive, and has since maintained a focus on helping startups and tech companies through his work with the Portland Development Commission here in Oregon.

Bill also contributes his time as Board President for the Childpeace Montessori School, where he is an advocate for excellence in early childhood education.

Caroline Carr

VP, Finance

Caroline has a strong passion for working with and supporting fast growing companies through her expertise and leadership in finance and accounting operations. Prior to joining Cloudability, Caroline was VP of Finance at Axiom EPM, another Portland based enterprise SaaS company that focused on performance management tools. And before that, she served in senior roles at Nike and Price Waterhouse Coopers. She’s an active CPA in the State of Oregon and holds a Masters in Accounting from the University of Oregon, Charles H. Lundquist College of Business.

Jason Mendelson

Board Member

Jason has over fifteen years of experience in the venture capital and technology industries in a multitude of investing, operational and engineering roles. Prior to co-founding Foundry Group, Jason was a Managing Director and General Counsel for Mobius Venture Capital, where he also acted as its chief administrative partner overseeing all operations of the firm. Prior to his involvement with Mobius Venture Capital, Jason was an attorney with Cooley LLP. Prior to that, Jason was a software engineer Accenture LLP. Jason holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, with distinction and a Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the University of Michigan.

Jason Seats

Board Member

Jason was a founder of Slicehost, an early cloud computing hosting company. In 2008 Slicehost was acquired by Rackspace and became the core for the initial Cloud Servers product. Jason continued on at Rackspace until 2010 as VP of software development for Rackspace Cloud, managing the cloud engineering teams. He is a Managing Director at Techstars. Jason has a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology at Saint Louis University.
